Chinese Revolution
In this quarter for Humanities class, I learn about changes in China, mostly about Mao era. I learn about a lot of things like propaganda, communism, and many more. For humanities class, students were expected to have a journal book to write our answer about the journal entry that Mrs. Diane usually gave before the class starts. Every student has to prepare 1 article about changes in government that is happening in the world and explain it in front of class, how the article relates to the topic we were studying. We also made posters for the ‘Freedom of Expression Wall’. We were also expected to present a movie or drama about each topic given to each groups in class. My group's topic was The Great Leap Forward, a phase China underwent to become a leading nation. We were also given an assessment to make a propaganda poster from Mao's era. I choose Great Leap Forward for my poster topic.
MYP Fundamental Concept: Holistic Learning
The lesson connects to holistic learning because I learnt a lot in this unit. It was the first time studying about China's hard times, which gives me new knowledge. The essay, poster-making and news article sharing also means we shared new knowledge to people around us.
For future improvement, I want to be able to see history in different perspectives. That way, I can understand better and I think I'll succeed in humanities projects even better.
